Month: April 2016
last thursday mom and i went to Kitchen Essentials in downtown Cedar Falls to attend a cooking class. a chef i have known for years puts on these demonstration style classes many times a year. we have not been to one in so long i’m so glad we made the time to go again!
the menu included…
an antipasto plate (eggplant with feta, cured salami, fresh mozzarella with homemade pesto sauce, kalamata olives, and crusty bread with homemade sun-dried tomato butter)
a roasted beet salad with goat cheese and homemade salad dressing
stuffed campari tomatoes with parmesan cheese
and panna cotta with toasted coconut and pineapple
everything was just so delicious! i could have snacked on the antipasto plate all night. the vegetable lasagna was surprisingly amazing. everything she made and explains is so simple. i am tempted to try the lasagna out on nick.
she has more classes coming up…
june 16th tapas cooking class which includes shrimp with chorizo, goat cheese stuffed mushrooms, farro salad with herbs, spanish style beans with tomato sauce, smashed potatoes with pesto, and antipasto tray and chocolate mousse
july 9th & august 6th farm to table which is held at the cedar falls farmers market. you will shop and prepare the meal together there!
classes range from $25 – $42 per person. it is such a fun time and you get to learn how to cook unique foods! she is the sweetest lady in the world too! i cannot wait to go back!
this weekend i had a lot of time to get things checked off my list! cleaning my makeup brushes was something i’ve been wanting to do for a while! i got this silicone cleaning pad from amazon and it worked so great!
i soaked the brushes for a few minutes in hot soapy water to loosen up the stuck on makeup.
then came the scrubbing part! i drizzled some more dish soap on the scrubbing pad…
and then started rubbing the brushes along the pad until they were clean!
i put them upright in a couple glasses and sat them in the window sill to dry from the breeze and sun. i can’t believe how well they came clean! this is my first time ever cleaning them (the brushes are about 2 years old) and i will be doing it more in the future!
