italian cooking class

last thursday mom and i went to Kitchen Essentials in downtown Cedar Falls to attend a cooking class. a chef i have known for years puts on these demonstration style classes many times a year. we have not been to one in so long i’m so glad we made the time to go again!

the menu included…

an antipasto plate (eggplant with feta, cured salami, fresh mozzarella with homemade pesto sauce, kalamata olives, and crusty bread with homemade sun-dried tomato butter)

a roasted beet salad with goat cheese and homemade salad dressing

stuffed campari tomatoes with parmesan cheese

vegetable lasagna

and panna cotta with toasted coconut and pineapple

july 9th & august 6th farm to table which is held at the cedar falls farmers market. you will shop and prepare the meal together there!

cleaning my makeup brushes

this weekend i had a lot of time to get things checked off my list! cleaning my makeup brushes was something i’ve been wanting to do for a while! i got this silicone cleaning pad from amazon  and it worked so great!

makeup 1

i soaked the brushes for a few minutes in hot soapy water to loosen up the stuck on makeup. makeup 2 makeup 3

then came the scrubbing part! i drizzled some more dish soap on the scrubbing pad… makeup 4

and then started rubbing the brushes along the pad until they were clean! makeup 5 makeup 6

i put them upright in a couple glasses and sat them in the window sill to dry from the breeze and sun. i can’t believe how well they came clean! this is my first time ever cleaning them (the brushes are about 2 years old) and i will be doing it more in the future! makeup 7

we hosted a little dinner party last friday night. it was a great time and had great company!
a little peak of our re-done high chair! love seeing it every day sit in our kitchen.
this coffee table base we picked up when we were visiting my friend karen. the top was not real wood so that came off right away. we have plans for a new top! can’t wait to share!
mr. keaton turned 2 last weekend! i remember the day he was born so perfectly. he is growing up way too fast! his ‘little artist’ party sure was fun and decorated super cute!
we finally mowed lawn for the first time this week. it looks so great and smelled even better! now if we could just clear up that dead patch next to the road!!!
with the warm temps i treated myself to a mango smoothie from Treat’s downtown. it tasted just as good as it looks!
